Advance from the holidays with a retreat

The warmth and joy of the Christmas season continues throughout all of 2025 with a retreat.

After taking down the Christmas tree and all the decorations, reward yourself with a retreat that promises to bring you closer to God. January and February include retreats that range from one day to 5 days with topics covering Epiphany, Forgiveness, Ignatian Mindfulness and Mary.

Begin the year with the Epiphany Day of Prayer on January 6. Come to explore and celebrate mystery and wonder! The Magi followed the light of a star in their search for a king. Because of their perseverance, they found the Christ child with Mary, his mother. We are invited into this Mystery as we look for the signs of Light all around us. This single day retreat for men and women is led by Sr. Ingrid Clemmensen, O.P. Cost: $80

Sr. Ingrid continues her series on The Chosen – now in its fourth season. Dates are January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25. Cost: $90

Fr. John Auther, S.J. will lead a Ignatian Mindfulness Retreat from January 10 – 12. This non-silent retreat is open to women and men. St. Ignatius of Loyola was acutely aware of how confusing life can be when we lose our focus on God.  This retreat will help us through prayer, conferences, and quiet time to become more focused on God and more aware of God everywhere.  Through techniques drawn from mindfulness, we will experience how God speaks deep within us. Cost: $320

For a time of silent contemplation, consider Praying with the Gospel of Luke from January 17 -19.  Fr. Kevin Leidich, S.J., leads this retreat for women and men. The opening lines of Luke’s Gospel describe the purpose of this sacred writing that presents practical concerns in living the message of Jesus. This weekend provides an opportunity to pray with the major themes of Luke, giving us a blueprint for living our faith. Cost: $320

Enjoy the Retreat Center grounds on Gardening Morning January 18 from 8:30 am – Noon. Led by renowned Gardner, Fr. John Auther, S.J., this is a great volunteer opportunity to spruce up the Retreat Center while enjoying the sacred space that is The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos for a few hours. Cost: Free

A 5-Day Directed Retreat for Women and Men will be held January 24 - 28, with the JRC Pastoral Staff. This five-day silent, directed retreat offers a longer retreat experience of prayer and silence than our weekend retreats. Guided prayer experiences, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, reconciliation, and individual spiritual direction are offered. Cost: $600

Forgiveness and the Kingdom of God invites retreatants to bring their own struggles to forgive into dialogue with input on forgiving as a basic human enactment and on God’s way of forgiving as revealed in Jesus. This allows expansion of the vision of forgiving and its relationship to Christian discipleship through reflection, conversation, and prayer. Led by Fr. Jim Voiss, S.J., this non-silent retreat is for women and men and will be held January24 – 26. Cost: $320

Fr. Chi Ngo, S.J., leads a silent retreat that invites women and men to Come Away to Rest and rejuvenate in the beauty of nature and to nourish your soul in God’s love from January 31 - February 2. We seek to find a sacred space for peace and quiet in light of the busyness and stress of our daily lives. Cost: $320

Miriam of Nazareth, Prophet of Peace walks with Mary through some of the events of her life. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live the ways of peace, truth and nonviolence. Through Scripture, music, poetry, prayer, images of Mary, the stories of the Annunciation, the Visitation, and Mary's Magnificat, Mary teaches us to be peacemakers and bearers of Good News.

This silent retreat for women and men will be held January 31 - February 2 and is led by Sr. Ingrid Clemmensen, O.P. Cost: $320

It’s easy to choose productivity over presence.  Slow down and savor the gifts of the sacred in daily life. Dare to listen to the deepest stirrings of your heart. Through storytelling, poetry, film, and Scripture, retreatants will explore what matters most to them and nourish their spiritual lives. Choosing Presence: Listening to the Voice of Love will offer a balance of silence and spiritual conversation, rest, and movement. Join directors of The Spiritual Exercises, Heidi Kallen and Grace Salceanu, in this non-silent retreat for young adults and those young (ages 22 to 40+) and those young at heart from February 7 – 9.  Cost: $320

Discernment, as a gift to all Christians, begins with a sensitivity to God’s activity and communication in our daily lives. Led by Fr. Kevin Leidich, S.J., Introduction to Ignatian Discernment is a non-silent workshop open to women and men from February 14 – 16 that will explore these gifts through the experiences, vocabulary, and insights of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Cost: $320
