8 Day Silent Ignatian Retreat for Women & Men

Retreatants are guided individually through days of prayer rooted in the Spiritual Exercises and in the Sacred Scriptures.

Fr. Joseph Fice, S.J., spent 25 years as a religious educator in Jesuit high schools in California and Arizona. He taught at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, Loyola High School in Los Angeles, and Brophy Preparatory School in Phoenix. His academic interests evolved from mathematics to a deep interest in scripture and ethics. After earning a B.S. in Mathematics from Loyola University of Los Angeles, he received an M.A. in Philosophy from Gonzaga University and an S.T.M. in Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. A lecturer in Philosophy at Loyola University of Los Angeles from 1967 to 1969, his subsequent high school teaching focused on Scripture and Catholic Christianity.

Glen Butterworth, S.J, a Jesuit of the Oregon Province, Glen Butterworth is a trained mediator who engages both interpersonal and group dynamics. He worked in Student Development at Seattle University and as a vocation promoter and counselor for the Oregon Jesuits. Currently a graduate student of theology in preparation for ordination, Glen offers openness to the exploration of how God is at work within us in all of our life experiences as well as in and through our various spiritual and religious traditions.

Keith Maczkiewicz, n.S.J., a Long Island, New York native, joined the New England Jesuits in the summer of 2008. Keith graduated from Fairfield University in Connecticut, and did two years of service with the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT), serving as a campus minister at a diocesan high school in Springfield, Massachusetts and living in community with other volunteer teachers. After completing two years there and earning an M.Ed. from Providence College, Keith began working at The University of Scranton in Pennsylvania in the office of Campus Ministry doing primarily retreat and justice work while living in a freshmen residence hall. In addition to these, Keith brings his experience of chaplaincy in prison and various hospitals.

Fr. Joe Nguyen, S.J.

Sr. Jean Sauntry, C.S.J., a Sister of Saint Joseph of Chambery, has a Master of Divinity degree from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA (now Boston College School of Theology and Ministry). While working toward this degree, Sr. Sauntry completed a supervised year-long practicum in spiritual direction at the Jesuit Center for Religious Development in Cambridge. Sr. Sauntry also holds a Masters in Applied Theology from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. She has more than 25 years of experience in spiritual direction and retreat ministry, and has worked in these areas and in leadership on national and international levels. More

Trung Pham, S.J. is a Jesuit scholastic currently studying theology at Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. He is a trained artist who paints and sculpts, and he taught drawing and painting at Santa Clara University for two years. He has given spiritual direction both to women inmates at the Dublin Correction Center, California, and to people in the San Jose area.
