Pentecost Day of Prayer, Non-silent for Men and Women
In our challenging times, we rely on the Spirit's creative
work through our companionship. This near-Pentecost Day
of Prayer will afford us an opportunity to reflect on and pray
for the continuing action of the Spirit in the Church.
Fr. Thomas Carroll, S.J., a San Francisco native, has served as Executive Director of El Retiro San Iņigo, the Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, since 2005. Long on the faculty of Loyola High School of Los Angeles, where he developed a vital choral music tradition, Fr. Tom also ministered for five years as Director of the Jesuit Urban Center and Church of the Immaculate Conception in Boston. Fr. Tom enjoys playing the organ, especially for singing congregations.
Ms. Anne Grycz was born in San Francisco and has lived all her life in the Bay Area. She graduated from the University of San Francisco and taught high school Spanish and History until her first child was born. She has two adult children, one of whom is a daughter with developmental disabilities. Anne is the Director of the Institute for Leadership in Ministry in the Diocese of San Jose and works closely both with the Jesuit Retreat Center in Los Altos and the Campus Ministry at Santa Clara University.
Assisting
Bro. Thomas Koller, S.J. first came to The Jesuit Retreat Center over
40 years ago while discerning his own vocation to religious
life; so he comes full circle with this present asignment.
Most recently Brother was stationed for 12 years at St. Ignatius
College Prep in San Francisco, working in school administration,
and moderating some student activities. Earlier he was assigned
as part of the staff of Father General in Rome, where he assisted
Father General at the American Assistancy desk. He also spent
many years as manager at the now closed Novitiate Winery in
Los Gatos where, for almost a century, the California Jesuits
produced sacramental and commercial wines as a means of support
for the young Jesuits in formation for California Province.
